This was the fifth round of the Dutch 4-stroke championship. It was a crucial race, as I needed a high finish to stay in contention for the title. During Friday and Saturday's practice sessions, it was clear we had the pace; we were the fastest in every session. On Sunday, we started with a five-minute warm-up, followed by qualifying and three heats; I was the fastest right from the warm-up. Qualifying went brilliantly—I took the top spot, which meant starting from pole position at the front of the grid. The heats went flawlessly; I won every one of them with a margin of at least 1.5 seconds! This weekend was vital, and thanks to this result, I moved into first place in the championship standings.
