This was the final round of the GK4 Kart Series (9hp class). I was sitting third in the championship, and to hold onto that spot, I needed to finish in the top three. Saturday’s practice sessions didn't go very well; we hadn't found the right kart setup, and the pace was lacking. My lap times placed me in the top 13, whereas I needed to be more than ten positions higher. Since Saturday wasn't a great practice day, I had to stay focused for qualifying and the one-hour race. Sunday was race day, but we had qualifying first. Right from the start of the session, I was consistently running in the top three and even hit P1. However, I encountered a group of karts during my fastest laps, so I ultimately qualified third. Before the race started, I noticed that the drivers in P1 and P2 were less experienced, so I knew I could capitalize on that at the start. I took the lead right after Turn 1, and then it was just a matter of pulling away—which I certainly did. After a few laps, I already had a ten-second lead, and the gap just kept growing. I crossed the finish line with a 25-second advantage over second place. That meant not only winning the race but also securing third place in the championship.
